Meet our Volunteer of the Month, Pam Wessel!
Pam started volunteering at the BLC by using her organization and design skills to arrange the silent auction at the Benefit for the Backside. It was through that event that she learned what the organization is all about and the “fabulous work” that we do.
Since then, she started helping with the “Grupo de Mamás” parent support group program that meets every other Friday to support parents of babies and toddlers. Pam helps the program run smoothly by preparing lunch for the group and getting the space ready. But, her favorite aspect is taking care of the kids so the parents can concentrate on the information they are learning.
Because Pam is such a consistent volunteer at the program, the kids have gotten to know her. “It is something special when they look up at you and have a smile of recognition. They are comfortable with me,” said Pam.
Another thing that makes working with kids so special to Pam is that she has an adopted daughter from Paraguay.
“The kids look like she did when she was that age. I feel a connection there,” Pam expressed.
The BLC appreciates Pam for all that she does with the Parent Group as well as her valuable expertise on the planning committee for this upcoming Benefit for the Backside. Thank you!
The BLC is also raising funds this Give for Good Louisville giving day for early childhood education. Pam’s story is one of many to illustrate the importance of such an important investment, making an impact on children during their formative years. Please remember to donate September 14th!
